Brrrrr!

I cannot get over how cold it is today. Seeing we are not allowed heaters in the office, I have resorted to carrying my hot beanbag thingey around with me all day to restore feeling in my fingers so that I am able to type.

Our internet was up for about an hour yesterday, in which time I managed to write my list post, read one or two blogs and repsond to email. Then it went down again.

Our technician fixed it this morning. Apparently, our adaptor plug was faulty and our router wasn't making contact. Nearly three days without internet because of a stupid plug!

*GROWL*

TSC is back and is lounging around at home on his holiday. Unfair!

It's good to have him back though, even if it makes it harder to get up in the mornings - snuggling with him is an infinitely more attractive option than freezing my bum off waiting for our internet to work at the office.

And my haircut turned out very nicely, so I am feeling slightly better about myself (I get miserable in winter because I look like the Michelin man under my gazillions of layers). My hairdresser rocks - sweet, good at what she does and reasonably priced... it's a winning combination.

Off to catch up on my mountain of emails and blog reading and re-heat my beanbag.

Br, so how cold does it get in Jozi? I have never really experienced it, the last time I was in Pretoria in Auust it was 28 degrees!

It's freezing at the moment! I'm only coping by drinking copious amounts of tea and coffee and wearing two jackets at the same time...

why aren't you allowed heaters?

We make our own heating pads at home.. just fill a sock with rice... sprinkle a little water on the outside of the sock.. and microwave-away! :) Just sayin....

I miss having an indoor fireplace...and being able to have a glass of sherry when I feel like it. F____ck! It's cold.

@Trina - thanks for the advice. i went to make the sock/rice heating pad as soon as I read your response. A word to the uninitiated: make sure that the sock does not have holes. At first my rice went from my cup thru the sock to the floor. Baby thought it was hilarious though; so it was all good.

You couldn't look like the Michelin man if you tried! :)

And yeah, I have a heater positioned under my table by my feet. What the heck is with this weather? Rainy? Really? Ugh.

Caz: I once had my hair cut on my birthday and ended up in tears for the rest of the afternoon coz the hairdresser made such a hash of it.

Po: Pretty cold. We go below freezing at night and although the days are only just under double digits in degrees celcius at the worst, the wind chill and lack of central heating makes it feel much worse. Especially in a tiled office with no curtains, carpets, heaters or double-glazing.

Jeanette: If you call 3 days quick!

Helen: My boss rates they make you sick. Plus they suck electricity.

Trina: My beanbag is essentially a nice big rice-sock that a wrap around me.

Louisa: Sherry.... mmmm... Or Gluwein! Sorry, I'm not helping, am I?

Damaria: That's so something that would happen to me ;-)

Sleepy: You haven't seen me in my marshmallow jacket! So jealous of your heater!
